"I Wear My Sunglasses At Night!"

Checking in: Sunday night - 8:20 pm

I think it's safe to say this weekend was by far one of the most fabulous weekends I've had this year! New phone (iPhone 4G), brand new car (Mazda 3), and quality time with a great group of girls for one of my dearest friend Taylor's wedding.
The weekend started on Friday with a relaxing spa day with the bride and bridesmaids, getting pedicures and our nails done. The wedding rehearsal, at the venue Agave Road, went very smoothly and set the tone for what was going to be an unforgettable wedding. The rehearsal dinner was at Texas Land & Cattle, which was absolutely delicious. Josh's (the groom) parents had such elegant words to say about their future daughter-in-law that made everyone smile and feel blessed to be a part of such a wonderful celebration.
On Saturday, the bridesmaids met the bride at the venue in the bridal suite. The bridal suite was gorgeous including a make-up lounge with a large leather chair for getting our hair done, a jaccuzi, large leather sofa, bathroom, closet, surround sound music, two balconies, variety of sandwiches, and endless pitchers of mimosas! Can we say "Yes, please!" I sure did!
Time flew by and before we knew it, it was time to walk down the aisle! Taylor was glowing and looked absolutely stunning. The ceremony was romantic and made everyone smile. After Taylor and Josh were pronounced as Mr. & Mrs. Josh Frizzell, we all took pictures and waited to be introduced into the reception. The bridal party decided since we're being introduced while dancing to the song Forever by Chris Brown, it would be "pretty cool" to dance in with our sunglasses on. So what if it's 8:00 pm...details! We all made a quick dash for our sunglasses and made it in line outside the front doors just in time. Everyone did their own thing and danced inside while their names were introduced! Three words: SO MUCH FUN!
The food was delicious, the bride and groom looked amazing, the laughter was nonstop, and the dancing was outrageous! I had such an amazing time being a part of Taylor's wedding. Not to mention, my new phone and car were extremely HUGE bonuses that made me feel so blessed!!
I have a lot to do this week in school: Writing Portfolio due, Word Study due, and I have to teach a science lesson to a 6th grade class. Fortunately, I moved my Direct Teach (45 minute lesson to my 3rd grade class) to next Monday so that's one less thing to think about. My very dear friend, Emily, is turning 22 next Monday but is celebrating her birthday this Friday. Needless to say, there's going to be another great weekend coming up very soon! ;)
I am so happy right now! I love days, even weekends, like this where I forget all my worries and just live in the moment. School is very stressful to me and most of the time overwhelms me too much but this weekend made this semester very much worth it!

Finally Fabulous

Well my loves, I just finished my Writing Portfolio, "Finally Fabulous", for one of my college classes! I've spent so much time perfecting it; I got kind of obsessed with making sure it was flawless. It includes an essay called "Lovers Ln.:When Will I Arrive At My Destination", and another piece you're probably familiar with, "Twilight Obsession." This Writing Portfoilio project has really opened up my passion for writing and allowed me to open up emotionally in ways I haven't for a while.
I'm very excited for this weekend which amazingly starts tomorrow! I'm going home to spend time with my family who I have not seen in a while, as well as see my beautiful friend, Taylor, get married. I am so happy for her and wish her happiness in every day of her life. It's going to be a fabulous wedding with fabulous people!
Things got very stressful for a while but I suddenly feel refreshed and less stressed. Maybe it's the light at the end of the tunnel; finally graduating in December. I've worked so hard and feel very proud of how much I've accomplished. I'm feeling good and hopeful of things to come! Now let's get to Taylor & Josh's wedding so we can celebrate their love!! Whoo!
PLUS: Just realized Water for Elephants comes out in two weeks! If this isn't an excuse for celebration, I don't know what is! ;)

Breathe

Well, I don't have much to complain about right now. Something worked out in my schedule this week to give me this entire day of complete freedom. I'm using this day to do whatever I want. The "dedicated student" part of me is making me work on a writing portfolio I have due in a few weeks, while the "lazy bum" part of me is playing the Global Chill station on Pandora and relaxing. Currently I am listening to "Breathe" by Telepopmusik. I would highly recommend it. (It just so happens to be on my Relaxing Mood page if you want to check it out!) It's very rare to be able to combine these two polar opposites such as homework and relaxing into the same time frame. It's a task I'd have to say I'm managing quite well at this moment.

Tonight I'm headed to my friend Cara's apartment to have a wine and movie night with our other friend, Kristen. Our plan is to watch Burlesque tonight. I will admit I was originally completely against ever seeing that movie. I can actually recall the moment I first saw it in the previews of another movie Taylor and I were seeing. Pretty sure our words were "Oh, sweet jesus!" (Which is really our way of saying either "Yes, please!" or "Aw, hell no!" This case being the "Aw, hell no!") However, I ended up watching the movie a few weeks ago and it's not that bad. Christina Aguilera is better actress than I thought she was! Plus, there are multiple steamy flirting sessions in the movie with her co-star, Cam Gigandet. If that doesn't hook me to the movie, what will?

I'm glad I'm able to have this relaxing day. I feel really lucky with all the great people I have in my life. I've always had trouble with friends since I was little. Finally, at 22, I can say I have some really amazing friends and close family members I feel I can always turn to. It's always good to take a moment and think about what you're thankful for. Life is always moving and changing. Sometimes you need to take a moment and breathe it all in. :)

Dating & Perfume

I’ve always been quite the over analyzer, no matter whether it had to do with relationships, school, friendships, or any other dramatic situation going on in my life. This has always been quite an obstacle for me to overcome. I always find myself thinking, “Why can’t I just go with the flow like everyone else?” I want to start dating a guy and not have numerous amounts of scenarios running through my head like what if he comes on to me and I’m just not feeling it, what if I am “feeling it”, how do I know if it’s too soon, and why is this so freaking complicated? You know, stuff like that.

However, in some instances, like this one, this annoying characteristic can be used for the good! For example, because my brain is continuously running and over analyzing the male breed, I came up with a metaphor to think about when you start to date a curious yet handsome individual. Dating men is like sampling perfume. Think it over for a second. You’re at the mall for some much needed “retail therapy” and happen to come across the cosmetic floor. You figure, “What the hell, I could always use a new bottle of perfume! I only have fifteen bottles anyway…I’m sure to run out soon!” You travel slowly through the cosmetic floor, preying on the different brands and cautiously avoiding any stampeding sales associates, who are just going to bother you with an unnecessary questioning session and attempt to use you for a sale. You pass different counters such as Estee Lauder, Clinique, Michael Kors, and Chanel. Finally, you come across a fragrance you would like to try. Just like dating, you shouldn’t immediately “go for the plunge” and go ahead with it primarily based on just because you’re attracted to it. This could be something that is in your life for a long time. You want to make sure it’s the right one. You kindly ask the sales employee, the one who didn’t attack you, to spray you a sample of the perfume. You waft the perfume sample, teasing your nose and move it away, waft the perfume sample, and move it away; better known as “Get a little sample, back it up, get a little sample, and back it up.” This is a continuous cycle you do until you’ve experienced the full effect of the perfume and realize whether you want it or not. See the resemblance?

When you start dating someone, even if you’re so attracted to the person you can barely stand it, you want to take things slow. Not saying you need to tease the poor man to death but take small steps by giving him “samples” of what it would be like to really be with you. If you go on a first date and BAM! you let him know everything about you and give in to any sort of temptation that evening, he’s going to lose interest. You want to leave something for the imagination.

Keep this in mind whenever you start dating the next prospective husband. A classy and sexy lady is surely the desire of a great catch!

A Twilight Obsession

If anyone close to me was asked “What is Chelsea passionate about?” Twilight would be their first answer. If it wasn’t, then it looks like I need to rethink some friendships… (kidding of course) I am unbelievably and irrevocably in love with the Twilight series; love the books, love the movies, and love the actors. It is just an indescribable frenzy that I get obsessed with. I can’t even say I get overwhelmed with the phenomenon of Twilight because “overwhelmed” insinuates a negative feeling of needing to take a break. No break needed over here, thank you! Let’s just keep this madness coming!
Let’s see…it all started for me when my roommate, Deanna, my sophomore year of college wanted to see the movie Twilight coming out on November 21, 2008. I only knew of the series a little bit since, quite honestly, I’m not that big of a reader. I saw the previews one day in our living room and thought “This is what everyone is excited about? He [Edward] isn’t even that cute!” I was expecting this famous and supposedly “enticing vegetarian vampire” to be drop dead gorgeous and make me want to pass out or something by the way these girlfriends of mine were talking! However, because I was such a good roommate, I told Deanna I would go see it with her. I even invited two more friends of ours to go with us and we planned a movie date for the Friday it was to be released. Deanna had read the first three novels (Twilight, New Moon, and Eclipse) and really loved it. Little did I know her love for Twilight was going to look like nothing compared to my outbreak of Twilight Fever.
It was 7:00pm on Friday November 21st. Megan and I had just snuck into the Starplex with our chocolate milk shakes before the movie started. I was surprisingly excited and even anxious to finally see what everyone was talking about. The lights go down and the previews come on. “Come on already! No one cares about the stinking previews right now Mr. Hot Dog! Just start the darn movie already!” is what I was thinking. Somehow I managed to elegantly keep my composure and waited for the beginning credits. OMG! It’s starting! Starting from the moment “Full Moon” by the Black Ghosts started to play to the moment Bella asks her friends, “Who’s he?”,and Edward walked on screen into the cafeteria, I knew it was too late. I was hooked onto Twilight.
I went home with Twilight racing through my mind. “Why were people saying Twilight is great? Twilight isn’t great, it’s AMAZING!! Who is this “Sex God” Robert Pattinson and why hasn’t he been on People Magazines Best Looking People already? I wonder if there are any interviews on YouTube I could watch. How long has Twilight been out again? Could I go and buy the book tonight? No, it’s already 9:00. I can wait till tomorrow! I can do it...it’s ok. Just breathe, breathe! “ After somehow managing sleep that night, I went to the store the next morning and bought the book. Remember how I mentioned earlier about how I’m not that much of a reader? Well I finished the entire novel of Twilight, all 544 pages, in less than two days. I couldn’t put the book down!  I was so in love with Edward and Bella and how ‘crazy in love’ they were. It made me feel like I was in love; a feeling that once it comes, you can’t even fathom it going away. I then moved on to reading the second and third novel as well. [Fourth novel to come]
Before I knew it my everyday life involved Twilight in some shape or form whether it was through the internet, watching movies, or day-dreaming about a love like theirs. Magazines were filled with rumors of Robert and Kristen’s real love life and interviews on TV shows were filling up my recorded shows. I was visiting fan-page websites and studying Perez Hilton’s webpage to find juicy details about a “They’re looking and smiling at each other” tagged photo. Fortunately, one of my best friends, Melissa, is there to share this passion with me. We send each other e-mails with interviews of Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart, songs from bands included on the soundtracks, and have numerous amounts of eclectic Twilight propaganda such as posters, calendars, and life-size Edward cut-outs. We recently went to Baton Rouge in December 2010 to try and meet Robert or Kristin. We weren’t able to see them but soon after Melissa bought me a handsome black and white picture of Robert signed “Lots of love, Rob Pat Xx” for my 21st birthday. I think she won best gift!
This whole experience has been and always will be a memorable part of my life. I will never forget the feeling I had the first time I saw Twilight, the feeling I had when I walked into my room to find an Edward cut-out for my 21st birthday, or the feeling I had when I first heard the song “Ours” by The Bravery on the Twilight Saga: Eclipse soundtrack. My Twilight Fever is soon to burn out when the last movie comes out and people get less excited with news of the Twilight cast. However, no matter what, I will always have a special place in my heart for Twilight.
